Relax

"I invite you to take some time out of your busy schedule to experience a sense of feeling completely calm, serene, renewed and totally rejuvenated. "

What are gong baths?

Gong baths are normally set up in a relaxing environment and take you to a deep meditative space, where you “bathe” in the healing vibrations of sound. The Gong radiates frequencies and rhythms that take the brain effortlessly into Theta & Alpha brain waves, which induce mediative and peaceful states which can enhance healing. The heart and respiratory systems slow down when the Alpha and Theta are dominant, thus having a calming effect on the body and mind.

The sound vibrations from the Gong are believed to stimulate the vagus nerve and also works on the sympathetic nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system.  When stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system it is thought to affect the glandular system and the immune system created by your experience of feeling deep calm and peace.

A gong bath, or gong meditation, is a form of sound healing designed to offer:

  • relaxation

  • emotional release

  • stress relief

  • pain relief

  • reduce anxiety

A gong bath also has physiological benefits which include a reduction in pain, improve sleep, helps remove toxins from the body, and helps strengthen the immune system.

What to expect

During a typical gong bath, participants lie down and get cosy with blankets and pillows or some people prefer to sit in a mediative posture. The facilitator then hits the gong, a big round percussion instrument, using different mallets.

The sounds can be quiet or very loud and are of primal power.  Some times other instruments are played such as crystal bowels, rain sticks and Koshi wind chimes.

Each Gong Bath gives you a different experience, some emotions may arise and thats totally ok as healing can take place.  Some people go into really deep mediative states experiencing mild euphoria, whilst others may snore, thats ok too as it means you are very relaxed.

The Gong vibrations bring an intense sense of well being and re-stabilises the balance of energies. No experience of meditation is required as the Gong quickly transports you into deep mediative states.

“The Gong is a brotherhood of tones perfectly united and blended, a cosmic entity.

In it the law of cohesion manifests fully. It is a mass of atoms and molecules; it is a host of tones, of cosmic lives. It is a concentric organic body.

Through which the energy of sound flows uninterrupted.”
